I have coarse, African American hair that is relaxed and was looking for a flat iron that was less than $100 that I could use to straighten my new growth. This flat iron does just that. I don't use it every time I straighten my hair (you can't control the temperature and this flat iron gets really hot!) but when I have a lot of new growth, using this flat iron really does give my hair the "freshly relaxed" look.
I have purchased so many flat irons and expensive styling tools that just do not work for my hair. I'm happy to have finally found one that does. I probably wouldn't have purchased this flat iron for the retail price, but for just $30, this is an amazing tool.
I would give it 5 stars if I could adjust the temperature and if my hair didn't smoke so much when I use it. I haven't had any damage to my hair but I make sure I use a heat protectant before using this product. Once I use it on my hair, the results usually last for at least two weeks so at least I don't have to put that much heat on my hair on a regular basis.
